Who determines the value of a life? And how do we determine this value? These are questions that the world seems to want answered. Each and every one of our lives has value - and that value doesn't depend on what we can or cannot do. Our lives simply have value because God, our Creator, says they do.

One Scripture memorization technique is to think of a Bible verse in terms of a wedding cake, or something that has layers. Each piece of scripture can then be memorized layer by layer.

It is difficult to find any goodness in the topic of terminal illness, especially when it is a spouse. In the past, and even now at times, food has been a source of great comfort to me. This is a daily battle and I often need to remind myself that the sinfully decadent food will taste heavenly for a moment, but won't feel heavenly when I'm paying my penance on the treadmill, making my sacrifice to the "God of empty calories." I need to daily surrender my will, my flesh...what I want versus what is wise and prudent for my health. When we, as women, wives and mothers, are healthy and whole, we have so much more to offer our friends, families and the people around us.

Being good stewards of our health and bodies is one expression of gratitude for Jesus' gift of life. I believe He longs for us to experience life, being present in each moment, enjoying each day,and living fully engaged. Being proactive regarding our health, eating a healthful, sensible diet, incorporating exercise into our busy schedules and staying current with exams are all ways in which we preserve and nurture the gift of life and health that Jesus gave us.

Stay in love with God is the third rule from the book "Three Simple Rules That Will Change the World." Staying in love with God is what helps you forge a deep relationship and find the strength and wisdom to follow the first two rules of "do no harm" and "do good." The worship of God, the Lords Supper, family and private prayer, and studying the Bible are all practices that cause us to fall in love with God and stay in love with God.

What exactly is Superwoman Syndrome? Essentially it's trying to be just that - Superwoman. It's feeling pressure that you have to do it all, and all with a big smile on your face. But there is a way out, a way to overcome this syndrome. Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

A baby's death changes the natural order. The loss of parents or grandparents suits a natural flow, albeit life-changing and very difficult. But children? Without a doubt, children should outlive their parents. When they don't, it's simply devastating. When our baby was born still, our anticipated life's journey was irrevocably altered.

Do Good. This second rule, drawn from the book Three Simple Rules That Will Change The World, asks us to think and act like Jesus would: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. The "do good" rule would have us abandon the "me-first" way of life we can all get drawn into.
